Langtang circuit Trek, also known as Langtang Gosainkunda Helmbu trek, offering varieties of experiences including cultural, ritual, natural as well as the livelihood aspects of the people of this region, is one of the nicest treks in the Himalayas. Remote in the mountain that can be reached with delightful walking through charming villages, lush green forest of bamboos and rhododendrons encountering several waterfalls, lakes, glaciers along the way; this mountain region offers almost everything that a trekker would expect on a trek. Besides the mouth watering mountain views and other natural heritages, the ancient Gompas, fluttering prayer flags, Mani walls and extremely friendly Buddhist people of Tamang, Sherpa and Hyolmo ethnic communities that you admire along will make your journey more delightful.
Starting from Syabrubesi, the initial part of Langtang Circuit Trek includes the Langtang valley, beautiful view points, stunning 360 degree mountain views and more. As the name suggests the trek further goes to reach the holy lake of Gosainkunda and crosses a mountain pass to the villages of Helambu region. This part of the region is popular not only for adventure with sceneries but also for its unique cultural riches, landscapes and numerous Buddhist gompas.
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. Welcome and pick up from airport and transfer to hotel
Day 02: Guided city tour of Kathmandu. Preparation for trek.
Day 03: Start the trek with a drive to Syabrubesi (1550m), 7-8 hours
Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2380m), 5-6 hours
Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3550m) via Langtang village (3430m), 6-7 hours
Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), 3-4 hours
Day 07: Explore and Climb Tserko Ri (5150m)
Day 08: Trek back to Lama Hotel, 5-6 hours
Day 09: Trek to Thulo Syabru (2235m), 5-6 hours
Day 10: Trek to Sing Gompa (3330m), 3-4 hours
Day 11: Trek to Gosainkunda Lake (4380m), 5-6 hours
Day 12: Trek to Gopte (3430m) via Lauribina La pass(4610m), 6-7 hours
Day 13: Trek to Melamchi Gaon (2560m), 6-7 hours
Day 14: Trek to Tarke Ghyang (2590m), 5-6 hours
Day 15: Trek to Sermathang (2610m), 5-6 hours
Day 16: Trek to Melamchipul Bazaar, 3-4 hours and drive to Kathmandu, 2-3 hours
Day 17: Departure day. Transfer to airport and fly back home
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival you will be greeted and welcomed by our representative at the airport. You will then be transferred to the hotel. A pre-departure meeting will be scheduled as time permits. During the meeting, you will be introduced to the leader/guide who will be guiding you all throughout the trek. You will also be briefed about the program that starts from the next day.

Day 02: Guided city tour of Kathmandu
Today you will be visiting various cultural, historical and architectural monuments of the Kathmandu. The centuries old monuments are full of legends and beliefs and the Durbar squares of medieval Kathmandu are full of intricate carving and superb collection of architectural riches. The qualified and experienced tour guide will lead you and show you around. The time after tour is for preparation for your trip.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1550m), 7-8 hours
The day starts pretty early with a drive to Syabrubesi. Approximately 8 hours drive through beautiful villages and on a winding road at the foot of the mountains which on a clear day offers a magnificent view of Manaslu, Annapurna and, Ganesh Himal and more. Syabrubesi is a beautiful village and a trekking starting point for trekking in Langtang.

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2380m), 5-6 hours
The first day of walking starts along the bank of Langtang Khola and then gently climbs to Bamboo then to Ramche at 2400m. The trail goes through the forest of rhododendron, oak, bamboos inhabited by red pandas, boars, monkeys, various birds etc . You will get to admire the diverse flora and fauna of the region all along.

Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3550m) via Langtang village (3430m), 6-7 hours
The trek to Mundu village goes through dense forest. Climbing up through valley, you will be greeted by a mesmerizing view of Lantang Lirung. The trail moves further through Ghoda Tabela and Langtang village which was devastated by the 2015 April earthquakes. Life here is slowly getting back on foot after the entire village was washed away by the avalanche triggered by the quakes. Leaving Langtang village and moving slightly further you will get to small but beautiful village of Mundu.

Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), 3-4 hours
A relatively shorter trekking day through small villages and yak pastures with gradual climb. As you climb the valley opens up further and the view becomes more extensive as mountains appear closer. Crossing several streams and moraines and appreciating Buddhist culture and tradition as beautifully narrated into ever fluttering prayer flags and Mani wall, you will reach Kyanjin Gompa. In Kyanjin Gompa, you will be seeing the legendary monastery, yak cheese factory and beautiful locality.

Day 07: Explore and Climb Tserko Ri (5150m)
This day provides a beautiful experience of climbing of Tserko Ri. This is one of the best view points to enjoy the Himalayan sceneries. Or optional excursion to visit Langtang glaciers, Langshisha kharka etc can also be enjoyed. It’s indeed a great exploration at Kyanjin Gompa one way or the other.

Day 08: Trek back to Lama Hotel, 5-6 hours
The trail retracts back to Lama Hotel. The downhill all the way back to Lama Hotel might sound a little boredom but the views you see will make you feel as if you somehow missed those amazing sceneries and you would regret even for a second.

Day 09: Trek to Thulo Syabru (2235m), 5-6 hours
The trail gently descends to the river. After crossing rivers the trail ascends and passes through beautiful pine and junipers forest to Thulo Syabru. This is a beautiful village with rich cultural and traditional heritages. You won’t help yourselves from appreciated the beautiful landscapes and the views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal and its range. The Thulo Syabru village also offers an amazing exploration opportunity.

Day 10: Trek to Sing Gompa (3330m), 3-4 hours
The trail climbs up steeply up to Dimsa village. On the way you will come across several chortens, mani walls decorated with beautiful prayer flags. Along the beautiful trail with rhododendron, oak, hemlock trees and ever fascinating and enthralling views of Himalayan views, the gentle ascent takes you to the Sing Gompa. Beautiful village is home of another cheese factory of the region and the legendary Sing Gompa.

Day 11: Trek to Gosainkunda Lake (4380m), 5-6 hours
Today is one of the highlight days of the trek. The smooth ascent through rhododendron forested land on the ridge to Lauribinayak 3920m. Along the slopes between Sing Gompa and Lauribinayak is the sanctuary for the endangered red pandas. From Lauribinayak the trail enters into alpine country above the tree line. The dramatic views will ever keep you mesmerized. The trail on wider ridge will take you the holy lake of Gosainkunda. Legend has it that this lake was created when Lord Shiva pierced his trident into a glacier to quench his thirst after having swallowed the poison that was about to destroy the universe and mankind. Hence, it’s a popular pilgrimage site too.

Day 12: Trek to Gopte (3430m) via Lauribina La pass(4610m), 6-7 hours
Climbing through a rocky trail, crossing glacier moraines and passing 4 small lakes, you reach the Lauribina La pass at 4610m. You could enjoy a beautiful view including that of Annapurna range on a clear day. The trail from here descends to reach the base called Phedi. The trail further drops to stream followed by some up and downhill walks through pine and rhododendron forest to reach Ghopte.

Day 13: Trek to Melamchi Gaon (2560m), 6-7 hours
The trail includes several ups and downs. Descending from the ridge at Ghopte first the trail then ascends through rhododendron, oak and juniper forest to Tharepati. The steep path that raises above the village to windswept hilltop which provides glorious view of the Jugal Himal and Numbur Himal. Going past the village and entering into the forested area, the trail rapidly drops down to Melamchi river followed by a final uphill walk to reach Melamchigaon.

Day 14: Trek to Tarke Ghyang (2590m), 5-6 hours
From Melamchi Gaon, passing the arrays of Buddhist chortens the trail drops into the forest. The trail further descends steeply to the valley and crossing the bridge over Melamchi stream the uphill walk starts. The trail up to the valley called Nakote is quite steep but the trail after that is gentle uphill until you reach the beautiful village of Tarke Ghyang, inhabited mostly by Sherpas. Tightly packed stone houses with narrow alleyways in between makes it beautiful sight. The Gompa of Tarkeghyang is of 18th century and has a huge prayer wheel of brass.

Day 15: Trek to Sermathang (2610m), 5-6 hours
Relatively an easier trail through flat land and beautiful forest with spectacular view of Helambu region makes a sweep around the wide valley end that is between Parachin and Sherpa village of Ganghyul to reach Sermathang. Another wonderful Sherpa with numerous ancient gompas and view of Jugal Himal range. This village also provides a fantastic exploration opportunities that on a clear day one can enjoy the view of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gosainkunda, Rolwaling and even Everest in a distance.

Day 16: Trek to Melamchipul Bazaar, 3-4 hours and drive to Kathmandu, 2-3 hours
The trail from Sermathang descends through beautiful meadows and terraced cultivated fields to Melamchipul Bazaar. It’s a short day walk followed by a drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 17: Departure day
You will have time for shopping etc depending on your flight back home. The trip comes to an end. You will be transferred to airport and bid farewell.
