This typical village tour of Newari towns of Bungamati and Khokana has extremely fascinating experiences to offer. On Bungamati Khokana day tour, you could observe the day to day life that includes wood carving, metal carving, weaving carpet, ploughing fields, planting or harvesting crops in the field. In Bungamati, the beautiful courtyard of Rato Machhindranath temple itself has so much to offer. After the breakfast, start the day with a drive to Bungamati. Located about 12 kms at the outskirts of the valley, it takes about half an hour to get there. Walking through the alleys and courtyards, this ancient town offers plenty of opportunities to explore. Coming across the local people, knowing about their day to day life and getting insight into their deep-rooted culture, tradition and beliefs are the major attraction.
After about one hour of exploration, walk along the village motorway for about 15 mins to reach Karyabinayak temple to observe the Hindu rituals and witness the faith that people have. Continuing the walk will take you to the legendary village of Khokana. Famous for mustard oil and onion and chicken legends, this village will certainly mesmerize your sentiment.
Spending another one hour at this lovely place, you will head back. On your way, visit Tibetan refugee camp at Patan. Observing their day and activities will give you a feel of their life in Tibet.
